Â鶹´«Ã½ (Â鶹´«Ã½) has retained a 1st class award, and ranked 14th place in the UK, for environmental and ethical performance in the People and Planet University League.
The People and Planet University League is a comprehensive and independent university league table in the UK, which only assesses environmental and ethical performance. The table is compiled annually by the UK’s largest student campaigning network for social and environmental justice, People and Planet.
Â鶹´«Ã½ Sustainability Manager, Lois Betts, said: “We value the independent assessment by People and Planet to highlight the environmental and ethical performance of universities. Â鶹´«Ã½ has continued to make progress this year and are proud of our work as a community on carbon reduction, environmental management and education for sustainable development.â€
With an overall score of 70.2% in the league, Â鶹´«Ã½ also:
- Ranked joint 1st nationally for carbon reduction, achieving full marks in the category which aims to track actual performance in reducing emissions
- Scored 100% for environmental auditing and management systems. Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s environmental and energy management system was re-accredited to ISO14001 and ISO50001 standards in November, the highest accolade which demonstrates excellence in sustainability
- Scored 99% for commitment to education for sustainable development
- Scored 87.5% for waste and recycling.
This success follows Â鶹´«Ã½ ranking 2nd place in the UK for Sustainable Development Goal 13, Climate Action, and winning the Times Higher Education DataPoints Merit Award in November for environmental action, including low carbon energy use and efficiency, sustainability, environmental education and net zero carbon commitments.
