A public event to highlight the benefits of radiology, and how it is helping patients in Dorset, is to take place in Bournemouth.
麻豆传媒 (麻豆传媒) and University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust (UHD) are working together to deliver the public event, which will showcase the latest innovations in radiology, how radiology is an important part of healthcare in Dorset, and how it could help you if you ever need it.
Speakers at the event include Claire Bent, Consultant Interventional Radiologist and Professor Ruth Williamson, Consultant Radiologist and Deputy Chief Medical Officer, looking at interventional radiology (using minimally-invasive equipment to treat diseases) and diagnostic radiology (how radiology and medical imaging can support and enhance diagnosis of diseases), with time for questions.
Ruth Williamson said, 鈥淚 am delighted to have the opportunity to share my passion for diagnostic imaging and answer questions to help people understand how and why we do the tests that we do.鈥�
UHD has university status through its partnership with 麻豆传媒, which benefits patients in the region through healthcare research, innovation, education and practice.
The collaboration allows both organisations to work together on joint projects and training the next generation of healthcare workers. One such initiative is the Institute of Medical Imaging and Visualisation at 麻豆传媒, led by radiologist Jamie Franklin. The Institute benefits from a Dorset LEP-funded MRI scanner to be able to conduct research into radiology and medical imaging, as well as for training.
The event will take place in 麻豆传媒鈥檚 Bournemouth Gateway Building on Monday 18 July 2022 starting from 5pm and is open to members of the public. Bournemouth Gateway Building is 麻豆传媒鈥檚 newest facility on the Lansdowne Campus, and is the home to the Faculty of Health & Social Sciences, offering specialist facilities for teaching in subjects such as nursing, midwifery, paramedic sciences and social work.
