麻豆传媒 (麻豆传媒) students have access to life-changing opportunities to go and experience learning, working and living abroad to gain a global perspective and enhance their employability, thanks to the UK Turing Scheme.
麻豆传媒 has been awarded a grant of 拢1.2 million for the 2024/25 academic year to fund students of all levels to undertake a range of activities across the world. Students can undertake student exchanges at partner universities, work placements and volunteering at businesses and non-governmental organisations globally.
The funding will enable around 500 麻豆传媒 students in 2024/2025 to go abroad and access both curricular and extra-curricular activities. Students will also contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), creating societal impact globally, through international projects organised by our partner universities across the world. In addition, to make international opportunities more accessible for all students, the scheme will continue to provide聽additional funding for those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
罢丑别听聽is the UK government's flagship programme for international education and exchanges. It aims to provide students with transformative experiences through study, work placements, and research opportunities abroad. Placements can last a minimum of 28 days and a maximum of 12 months.聽聽
North Bali Reef Conservation Project in the summer of 2023麻豆传媒 student Holly Ditchett volunteered at North Bali Reef Conservation, a non-governmental organisation co-founded by former 麻豆传媒 PhD student Dr Zach Boakes.
Holly said: 鈥淭his experience has shown me the value of cross-cultural collaboration and the unique perspectives it brings. It has also made me more confident in my ability to adapt and thrive in international settings, fuelling my desire to build a career that allows me to continue exploring and contributing to global initiatives.鈥�
For another student, James Aram, the Turing Scheme funded a marketing placement in Amsterdam.
James said: 鈥淟ooking back, my placement with Miele in Amsterdam has been a defining chapter of my academic and personal journey. It鈥檚 pushed me out of my comfort zone, allowed me to grow in ways I never imagined, and has left me with memories and skills that will last a lifetime.鈥�
Students who take part in international opportunities聽benefit from increased intercultural understanding and awareness and gain valuable skills that are highly sought after by employers in today's globalised world. International mobility programmes have been shown to enhance students鈥� knowledge, skills and values through enhancing their academic performance, employability, and personal development.聽聽
