Fire Technology

The Â鶹´«Ã½ Fire Technology Department was founded in 1992 by Mike Collins, Retired Battalion Chief with the City of Fresno Fire Department. We have been an Accredited Regional Training Program (ARTP) through the California Office of the State Fire Marshal since 2014 and re-accredited in 2022.

Mission:
To cultivate and inspire career-ready professionals in fire service, EMS, and public safety through dedicated training, education, and mentorship, upholding values of integrity, professionalism, discipline, accountability, and leadership.

To lead in delivering state and nationally accredited programs by continually advancing our infrastructure, technology, delivery methods, content, and quality, thereby providing students with exceptional opportunities for advanced training and continuous education that surpass current standards.

Basic Fire Academy Certificate

The Basic Fire Academy at Â鶹´«Ã½ is meticulously designed to equip students with the comprehensive hands-on training essential for entry-level positions in fire agencies. Upon successful completion, students are prepared to obtain the State of California Firefighter I certification, a credential recognized and valued by both state and local fire departments. Fire Technology Degrees

Â鶹´«Ã½ offers two Associate in Science degrees in Fire Technology. Fire Technology Associate in Science Degree: This program provides foundational knowledge and skills for entry-level positions in the fire service. Fire Technology Company Officer Associate in Science Degree: Designed for current fire service professionals aiming for promotional opportunities, this program focuses on leadership and advanced operational skills. EMT Certificate and Paramedicine Degree

Â鶹´«Ã½ offers a comprehensive Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program, available three times annually. Spring and Fall: 18-week courses with day and evening options. Summer: 9-week day classes only. The program utilizes advanced training technology and equipment, comprising 216 didactic hours and a 24-hour field internship with local EMS agencies. Additionally, Â鶹´«Ã½ now offers a Paramedic Associate in Science Degree, designed to prepare students for advanced roles in prehospital emergency medical care. Â鶹´«Ã½'s Fire Technology Department, in collaboration with the California State Fire Marshal's Office, offers a comprehensive suite of training certificates designed for both aspiring and current fire service professionals. These courses are conducted throughout the year at our state-of-the-art campus, providing cost-effective options compared to other training centers. Available Certificates: Company Officer, Driver Operator, Fire Instructor, Fire Investigator, Fire Rescue, Incident Command, and Chief Officer. sft@fresnocitycollege.edu
